WIN OR LOSE features the voice of Will Forte as Coach Dan. Pixar’s first-ever original long-form animated series follows a co-ed middle school softball team in the week leading up to their championship game. Each episode highlights the perspective of a different character—like Coach Dan—and explores the drama of bad calls being made on and off the field. A story about love, rivalry and the challenges we all face in our struggle to win at life, “Win or Lose” streams on Disney+ in Fall 2023.
Great news for Disney fans!
The company is introducing its first openly Christian character in almost two decades with Laurie, a middle school softball player from the new Pixar series “Win or Lose.”
This “Inside Out” spinoff is already winning hearts, and Laurie’s shining moment comes when she prays before a big game, showing faith in action while she’s dealing with anxiety in the episode “Coach’s Kid.”

“Dear Heavenly Father, please give me strength,” Laurie, who is a Nervous Nelly, prays. “I just want to catch a ball or get a hit. I promise I’ll be good, and I, uh, won’t do that thing again.”
In another scene, Laurie prays, “Please help me be good. I’m gonna train so hard.”
Laurie’s character is Disney’s first explicitly Christian character since the 2007 film “Bridge to Terabithia” showed the main characters Jesse and Leslie go to church and talk about their faith afterward.
Late last year, Disney made headlines by scrapping a transgender storyline from the show, explaining that many parents prefer to guide their kids through certain topics on their own terms.
Whether you see it as a nod to traditional values or a smart business move, fans online are cheering!
Comments like “Finally, some good news from Disney!” and “Laurie’s a win for us all!” are lighting up social media.
