GOOD NEWS HERO: Adul, a child sponsored through Compassion International, emerged a hero after being trapped alongside his teammates in a cave in Northern Thailand. (Compassion International)
Do you remember when the Thai soccer team was miraculously rescued from a waterlogged cave?
At just 15 years old, Adul Samon, emerged a hero because he was able to communicate with the British divers who found them.

Adul replied in English when they asked, “How many of you?”
“Thirteen,” he said.
His pastor taught him English and he is a sponsored child through Compassion International, a nonprofit you’ve likely heard about at a Christian concert or event.
And while Adul’s teammates were celebrated publicly in Buddhist ceremonies, he held a small, humble thanksgiving service at his church, Maesai Grace Church, where he leads worship.
Adul’s story didn’t make headlines but since his life has completely changed, including receiving the first-ever “Global Citizen’s Award” for his “communication skills and compassion” from Middlebury College in Vermont.
I think that’s pretty cool and Adul gives the credit to God.
“Help came from God during the hardest time,” Adul said. “I very intently prayed, and God answered me with His help. It was me and God together facing this situation, and I am thankful to Him for helping me get out of the cave.”
What a humble hero.
I would encourage you to support Compassion International and if you’re able to sponsor a child, just like Adul, to be lifted out of poverty in Jesus’ name and might just emerge a hero.
