Rickey Hill, a former professional baseball player, is inspiring audiences on the big screen in the new film, “The Hill,” based on a true story.
Hill, who is portrayed by Colin Ford, was born with a degenerative spinal disease that confined him to leg braces as a child. He is the son of a Southern Baptist preacher, played by Dennis Quaid, from Fort Worth, Texas.
“It’s been a complete battle from day one,” Hill told the “Todd Starnes Show” this week. “I had the love of God, and I also had the love of the game…nothing could stop me.”

He said it was “shocking” to see Quaid portray his father: “It was like he was my father himself….he had him totally down. He acted totally identical to my father in the movie. It’s just awesome.”
Hill gave advice to young people wanting to follow in his footsteps.
“You have to be willing to sacrifice everything you possibly can and then pray the good Lord gives you that help from above as well,” he said.
