Thousands witnessed what is being called another “Jesus Revolution” in Southern California.
Around 8,000 people gathered at Pirates Cove Beach where 4,166 people were baptized on May 28, Pentecost Sunday, according to “Baptize SoCal” organizers.
Around 300 churches joined together for the mass baptism on the 50th anniversary of the Jesus People movement, which went to the big screen earlier this year.
Calvary South OC worship leader Daniel Mamora told CBN News he was blown away seeing the line of people waiting to be baptized all the way into the parking lot.

“We have never seen a crowd like that for baptisms,” Mark Francey, one of the organizers and lead pastors of Oceans Church, told the Christian Post. He said he got the vision from God to do the event while he was praying last year.
“What an amazing and historic day,” said West Coast Life Church Pastor Ray Gene Wilson. “Thousands baptized at Pirates Cove, God is moving in California!”
One attendee responded, “A moment I’ll never forget!”
Worship artist Lindy Cofer said, “The Church is alive! … I’m so excited for the days ahead.”
Videographer Eddy Ferguson posted footage from the event.
“It was such a blessing to witness so many people getting baptized for one but to be able to see happen the same place that the hippies did it 50 years ago for The Jesus People Movement was just surreal !!” Ferguson wrote.
Youth pastor R.J. McCauley, who leads CSBC Youth of the California Southern Baptist Convention, told Think Eternity that encouraged his youth group with a clip from the big event.
“A real Jesus Revolution is happening right now, and you need to be a part of it,” McCauley said.
