Tucker Carlson Calls for Prayer in Final Message Before Fox News Firing

In the final speech before Tucker Carlson was fired from Fox News, he asked for prayer.

The former “Tucker Carlson Tonight” host has been quiet about his personal faith while giving a platform to believers and allowing others to speak freely about their faith – a rarity in the mainstream media.

But Carlson opened up during his keynote Friday at The Heritage Foundation’s 50th anniversary gala.

“I’m an Episcopalian, so don’t take any theological advice from me ’cause I don’t have any. I grew up in the shallowest faith tradition that’s ever been invented. It’s not even a Christian religion at this point,” Carlson joked.

After discussing “evil” in the culture from abortion, which he called “child sacrifice” and transgender mutilation of children, Carlson suggested, “Maybe we should all take just like 10 minutes a day to say a prayer about it. I’m serious. Like, why not?”

He added, “I’m saying that to you, not as some kind of evangelist. I’m literally saying that to you as an Episcopalian, the Samaritans of our time. I’m coming to you from the most humble and lowly theological position you can.”

“I’m literally an Episcopalian and even I have concluded it might be worth taking 10 minutes out of your busy schedule to say a prayer for the future, and I hope you will.”

Carlson has previously credited his wife for “leading him to faith seriously,” but he did grow up in the Episcopal church in California and even attended St. George’s School in Rhode Island.

As a former colleague of Carlson’s, I have a lot of respect for him and admiration. He has been a defender of free speech and debate that is so needed in America.

On Friday, Carlson asked the nation to pray, and today, I think we should all pray for him, his family, and his future. Just like he said, why not?
