Asbury University Revival Makes History: ‘God Is Moving’

A historic student-led revival is taking place at Asbury University — and it’s overflowing way beyond the Kentucky campus.

What started with 30 students hanging around after a regular chapel service in Hughes Auditorium last Wednesday has been going on for 13 days now.

And it’s poured out into overflow areas and drawn people from all over. One group said they could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit within miles of driving to the campus.

Testimonies from the Revival

Alexandra Presta, the executive editor of The Asbury Collegian, has been reporting on the revival since the beginning, starting with story titled, “Revival strikes Asbury once again”:

Peers, professors, local church leaders and seminary students surround me— all of them praying, worshipping, and praising God together. Voices are ringing out. People are bowing at the altar, arms stretched wide. A pair of friends cling to each other in a hug, one with tears in her eyes. A diverse group of individuals crowd the piano and flawlessly switch from song to song. Some even sit like me, with laptops open. No one wants to leave.

No one even expected this to happen. Not on a random Wednesday for sure. Yet, we sit and sing about God’s love pouring out and His goodness.

“People are coming from all over and they don’t want to be anywhere else but here,” student Mia Lush told LEX 18.

One college student named Gage who traveled to be at the service said, “This is revival. It isn’t hype. It’s ordinary people crying out for a move of God in our generation…Revival’s real…and it’s about to spread out to the nations.”

He shared that he became a follower of Christ a year and a half ago, “I left everything…forget everything, He’s worthy!”

Geneva Wise, a freshman, told SMG reporter Allen Moro that God is making His presence known among the Asbury community.

“This unplanned revival at Asbury has looked different for every student and community member who joins us,” Wise said. “Some may find God speaking to them most in the midst of the crowd, and others may find peace in quiet moments alone with Him. Regardless, God is moving here, and His presence is being made known.”

Asbury has a History of Revivals

The school has a history of revivals. The college had a revival that lasted 144 hours in 1970 but the students surpassed it on Tuesday.

Other Universities Are Catching the Revival

Now it’s spreading like wildfire to other campuses.

Nonstop meetings are reportedly going on at Lee University in Tennessee, Cedarville University in Ohio, and Ohio Christian University.

Evangelist Nick Hall traveled to Asbury to see it for himself.

“For those skeptical of hype, these meetings have been incredibly unsensational, non-emotional, no lights, smoke, or charismatic voices,” Hall said. “On the contrary, this is humility, repentance, prayer, and sitting under the authority of Scripture. The altars are wet with tears of hearts broken by the love of God.”

Revival Across the World

The Pulse founder said it’s game time for the church.

“I believe we are in the last days and God is moving to prepare us for the end times harvest,” Hall explained. “Turn to Jesus now. Repent of a faith that has been marked by a judgmental spirit, and a lack of sacrificial love. Surrender to the Spirit’s power and Jesus’ invitation to be God’s witnesses to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth.”

Presta spoke to Billy Hallowell for CBN News’ Faithwire about the massive revival.

Presta summed it up best.

“Come and see,” she said. “It’s surely an unbelievable sight that will stir your heart.”

Amen. May revival stir in our hearts, in our cities, in our nations, and in our world — on earth as it is in heaven.
