Christian Leader: ‘Evangelicals for Harris’ Need to Repent

Dr. Christopher Yuan, a Christian author and speaker, explains why he is celebrating policy changes under the Trump administration and calling for members of “Evangelicals for Harris” to repent.

The author of “Holy Sexuality and the Gospel” said children are better off now that President Trump is in office compared to what a Harris administration would’ve been.

“I rejoice that transgender ideology is no longer celebrated by the federal government,” Yuan began.

“I rejoice that abortion is no longer strongly endorsed by the federal government,” he said.

“I rejoice that DEI and critical theory are no longer infecting government, schools, and businesses,” he explained.

Yuan concluded, “I can rejoice with these things, while also recognizing the president’s need to repent of his sins (some that are significant for anyone professing to be a Christian) and to put his faith in Jesus Christ (and stop pretending that he has).”

Yuan, who taught Bible classes at Moody for several years, was responding to another author who said they were offended by Vice President J.D. Vance advancing faith at CPAC.

Rebecca McLaughlin, author of “Jesus Through the Eyes of Women,” criticized Vance, writing, “He must be praying every day that his children don’t grow up to be anything like president he’s working for.”

She added, “Every Christian parent’s worst nightmare.”

Yuan responded in a lengthy post.

“Rebecca, with all due respect (and I know a lot of people respect you), it very much seems like you would be much happier that Harris was president,” he said. “I stridently disagree.”

Yuan listed several ways he is rejoicing after moves made by the Trump administration.

“And to be honest, children are now better because Harris is not in office and I am dumbfounded that you think otherwise. Not seeing this, puts into question one’s ability to discern,” he added.

“Honestly, these ‘Evangelicals for Harris’ need to repent,” Yuan said.

He challenged, “Please, @RebeccaMcLaugh or any other ‘Evangelics for Harris,’ give me anything in the past 30 days of this administration that would cause ‘every Christian’s worst nightmare.'”

Yuan doubled down after someone expressed disappointment in his posts.

“Rebecca was responding to a post where Vance proclaimed the tenet of Christianity that the Son of God became man, died, and rose again at CPAC where many are NOT Christian,” Yuan wrote. “And her response? Vance should be praying that his kids should not be like Trump. REALLY?!?! That was SO out of left field. Just pure hatred for Trump and Vance where she cannot even rejoice in the fact that the gospel is proclaimed. DO NOT preach to me about being uncharitable. Not rejoicing in the preaching of the gospel is hatred. And wimps who are afraid of being uncharitable are enemies to the gospel.”

In short, Yuan said he wasn’t sharing his “opinion,” but rather standing on “God’s truth.”
