Talking to teens and pre-teens about sex can be intimidating, but it’s a responsibility parents need to take back from schools, government, and social media, according to Dr. Christopher Yuan.

The Christian author and international speaker, who taught the Bible for 12 years at Moody Bible Institute, recently launched “The Holy Sexuality Project,” a 12-lesson, gospel-centered video series for teens and young adults.
“This is an antidote to the onslaught of all this information they’re hearing from the world, whether it’s from Disney or whether it’s hearing from their peers or TikTok,” Yuan told award-winning journalist Caleb Parke.

“The goal,” Yuan explained, “is to empower parents, grandparents, teens, and pre-teens to understand, embrace, and celebrate biblical sexuality” as well as “put this discussion of biblical sexuality back in the home.”
Yuan argues the problem of parents ceding the responsibility of raising their own children to the state has led to the rotten fruit of transgenderism, gender confusion, and schools thinking they know how to care for children better than parents.
“Our hope is to save our youth drowning in a tsunami of lies and misinformation,” Yuan said.
The “Holy Sexuality and the Gospel” author said talking about sex once a year at youth group or giving their kids “the talk” at 16 isn’t enough anymore.
“Biblical sexuality is not a program,” he said. “It’s something that must be a part of just regular life.”
A pastor and his wife completed the Holy Sexuality Project with their two kids after it launched this summer. At the start, his 14-year-old son said, “This is so weird I’m talking about sex with my parents.” But by the end of the series, his dad asked him if he still felt weird. “No, not at all,” the boy responded.
Yuan encourages parents to push past the awkward and uncomfortable part and embrace God’s call to teach their kids: “All you need to know is how to press play.”
“When they leave high school, when they’re in college, when they’re in their young adult years, they know they have a mom and dad they can talk to,” Yuan said. “That is a win.”
With over four and half hours of video content and an in-depth parent guide, the series covers identity, sexuality, gender, marriage, singleness, and more along with questions and answers for each lesson.
The $1.2 million project, with video animation from The Bible Project, is just $20 thanks to generous donors (normally $300-$500 per license). And each purchase helps fund the next project for parents and young children.
This is part one in a series of stories from an interview conducted with Dr. Christopher Yuan, Christian speaker and author of “Holy Sexuality and the Gospel” and “Out of a Far Country.” He just produced “The Holy Sexuality Project,” a first-of-its-kind gospel-centered video series to help parents and grandparents empower their teens to understand, embrace, and celebrate biblical sexuality.
