“The Chosen” Season 4 in Theaters Feb. 1, 2024

The much anticipated fourth season of “The Chosen,” a wildly popular show about Jesus and the disciples, will debut in movie theaters across the country at the beginning of February.

All of “The Chosen” cast, led by Jonathan Roumie who plays Jesus, will return with one notable exception: Philip actor Yoshi Barrigas, who departed for “personal and professional reasons” will be replaced by Reza Diako from “The Diplomat” on Netflix.

Here is how it will be released on the big screen:

  • Feb. 1, 2024: Episodes 1-3
  • Feb. 15, 2024: Episodes 4-6
  • Feb. 29, 2024: Episodes 7-8

The season is filled with sorrow, grief, and a lot of miracles, according to viewers who got a first look.

“Season 4 marks the midpoint of the most famous and influential story in human history,” Dallas Jenkins, creator of “The Chosen,” said. “It will be painful, and it will be joyous. It will be bittersweet. But by all measures, Season 4 will also be our best.”

“Ordinary Angels” in Theaters Feb. 23, 2024

“Ordinary Angels,” from Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate, is based on a true story of Sharon Stevens, a struggling hairdresser played by “Freedom Writers” actress Hilary Swank, who meets Ed Schmitt, a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters played by “Reacher” actor Alan Ritchson, in small-town Kentucky. Stevens discovers a sense of purpose helping Schmitt’s 3-year-old daughter as she awaits a liver transplant during a devastating snowstorm in 1994.

“I was drawn to this beautiful true story because it’s such a powerful reminder that angels reside everywhere among us,” Swank told TODAY. “And that faith, hope, grit and positivity are all powerful fuel for miracles.”

The story is personal to Swank. She took a break from acting to care for her dad while he recovered from a lung transplant from 2015 to 2018.

“Unsung Hero” in Theaters April 26, 2024

L-R: Angus K. Caldwell as Josh, JJ Pantano as Luke, Diesel La Torraca as Joel, Tenz McCall as Ben, Kirrilee Berger as Rebecca, Paul Luke Bonnenfant as Daniel, Daisy Betts as Helen, and Joel Smallbone as David. (COURTESY OF LIONSGATE)

The filmmakers will also release “Unsung Hero” based on the true story of Grammy Award-winning family with artists “For King & Country” and Rebecca St. James. It follows father David Smallbone, played by for KING + COUNTRY’s Joel Smallbone (co-writer and co-director of the movie), as he moves his family of nine from Australia to the United States in the 1990’s.

The film’s name is based on a song by the same name from “For King & Country” about their parents. Helen Smallbone, the matriarch of the family played by Daisy Betts, recalled moving to the U.S. after her husband’s business promoting Christian concerts in Australia took a massive loss.

“I saw it as an adventure. We were together. We homeschooled the children”, she told CHVN Radio. “We had a rental home but no furniture. The kids would sleep on their winter clothing for a bed. We were camping out in our house. We never knew what the next day would bring. We would consistently pray that God would open up opportunities for us.”

“Bonhoeffer” in Theaters in 2024

Angel Studios acquired the new film, “Bonhoeffer,” based on the World War II hero in November

The film “shares the true story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pacifist pastor determined to live his life with uncompromising political and spiritual courage while choosing to live in Berlin during the Third Reich. Conspiring to bring an end to the Nazi regime, he fearlessly spoke the truth while facing unyielding oppression and evil.”

Jordan Harmon, president of Angel Studios, said Bonhoeffer’s story is much-needed amid the rise in antisemitism.

“There has never been a time in history where we needed to be reminded of the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer more than today,” Harmon said.
