She didn’t know she had a twin until enrolling in Christian program: ‘Jesus allowed me to meet my sister’

Posted on November 20, 2021November 20, 2021 By Caleb Parke

Twin sisters in Ecuador were raised in separate homes in different towns, unaware of each other, until they were reunited through Compassion.

Today Cintya is 12 years old and she is best friends with her twin sister, Joselen.

However, they were each raised as a single child and didn’t even know they were twins until a few years ago when they were each separately enrolled in Compassion’s Child Sponsorship Program.

Their parents gave them to relatives when they were toddlers and they were unable to allow them to visit one another. They were raised in different towns, went to different schools, and unaware they had any siblings.

Until they attended the Compassion program.

“Mom, Mom, there’s a girl in church who looks a lot like me,” Joselen told her grandmother, whom she was living with.

Days later the families met in church, where the two girls discovered they were sisters. Their reunion was complete with tears and hugs all around.

“My sister is my best friend,” Cintya told Compassion. “She makes me laugh and makes me happy.”

Although they are still in different homes, they get to see each other every week at church.

“Jesus allowed me to meet my sister again,” Cintya added.
