Actor and singer-songwriter Joshua Bassett declared his faith in Jesus during his acceptance speech for “Favorite Male TV star” at the 2023 Kids’ Choice Awards.
The 20-year-old Disney star in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” was recently baptized at Bethel Church and organized a pop-up worship service in Los Angeles.
“I’d love to thank my Savior, Jesus Christ,” Bassett said after thanking supporters and fellow actors in the Disney+ series on Nickelodeon Saturday night.
He invited young fans to seek God.
“I want to say something. There are a lot of people here who are burdened, broken-hearted, and have been beated down by life,” he began.

“I’m here to tell you— for those of you who’ve lost hope, there’s a very real God who loves you more than you will ever possibly know,” Bassett said. “His promise is peace and my testimony is my healing.”
He left them with advice.
“Remember, forgive quickly, love freely, and walk courageously,” Bassett added. “Love always wins in the end.”
